Well after two years, I thought it was time to break my silence on this board.
The last time I was here, I had been out of the wrestling business for awhile. And I had no plans of ever getting back into it. I hated the business and what it had become.
Well even as late as a few weeks ago, I still felt the same way. I wanted NOTHING to do with the business. Well that was until the old saying "money talks" came into play.
Several days ago, I was contacted by one of Kentucky's most respected wrestling promotions, HCW (Hardcore Championship Wrestling). They are getting ready to go on television on a major network affiliate that will cover 218,000 homes in Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee. And they asked me if I would be interested in coming on board as the ring announcer for their TV tapings and house shows. At first, I wasn't really that interested; but then they started discussing money. And I'm all about the money! And the offer they made me was one I could not refuse. I even got a signed contract with the terms laid out in it.
There is a certain group of individuals that like to bash me on another KY wrestling forum. Well bash me all you want guys; but the bottom line is this: I've always done better than you and accomplished more as a promoter than you ever have as a wrestler. And now that I'm with HCW , that trend will continue. You may be "legendary", or you might be a 4 foot midget trying to make a living off a dead man's name but the fact of the matter is I'll make more money in one night than most of you will make in 3 months worth of shows. And that is what it is all about. Heck with the money I'll be making, I may quit my regular job and go full time HCW ring announcer.
To add the icing on the cake, I will be joined on the announce team by Hall of Fame announcer Dale Bass....AND the legendary Les Thatcher. Most of you are familiar with Les and his contributions to the sport; including his days with Southeastern Championship Wrestling as well as Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Les will also be co-producing the show. So I'm honored to be joining such a fine team and such a fine promotion as HCW.
So, in closing, I will echo the words of HCW Promoter Darrell Fugate: "If you are a talented professional the doors are open. There's a decision to be made... Either climb on board the train or be run over by it."
See you at ringside!
